Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a program designed to help bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten.  In TK young children develop the necessary social, emotional, and academic skills needed to succeed in a standard kindergarten classroom.  TK classes emphasize the use of play-based learning to develop foundational skills like letter recognition, number recognition, and basic social interaction within a structured school environment. The TK program at CHE is one of several TK programs within the Carlsbad Unified School District, and largely serves the school communities of Calavera Hills Elementary, Hope Elementary and Kelly Elementary.
