Welcome to Calavera Hills Elementary

Calavera Hills Elementary School has been an integral part of the Carlsbad, California community since our doors opened in 2002.  For more than 20 years, CHE has strived to provide a rigorous, inclusive and innovative experience for students in grades TK-5.

Calavera Hills Elementary exists to prepare our students for success in their future.  We believe in providing learning experiences that are meaningful and relevant to students, and driven by real-world problems.  We believe learning should be fun, social and collaborative.  We believe in the importance of balancing foundational skills (reading, writing, math) and transformational skills (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity).  We believe that what matters most is how we bring resources to bear in creative, collaborative ways to solve complex problems.  We also believe that who a student “is” is as important as what they “know.”  We believe in creating an environment where students feel supported, engaged and empowered to make a difference in their world and for each other.
