CUSD Superintendent Announcement

Dr. Norman will join CUSD after serving four years as Associate Superintendent of Business Services in the Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD). Prior to this appointment, she spent two years as Director of Human Resources in Oceanside. Additional roles include Director of Education Services in Placentia Yorba Linda, eleven years as principal in both Saddleback Valley and Temecula Valley school districts, and six years teaching in Los Angeles. With a career spanning nearly three decades, Dr. Norman has established a track record of strategic leadership in TK-12 education and selfless service to students, staff, and families.

Dr. Norman holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from USC, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from CSU Dominguez Hills, and a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from CSU Long Beach. She is an active member of several professional organizations including the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), the California Association of School Business Professionals (CASBO), and the California Association for Adequate School Housing (CASH).

Dr. Norman is slated to begin her assignment on June 16, 2025. Mr. Rick Schmitt will continue to serve as interim superintendent until that time and will work closely with Dr. Norman to ensure a seamless transition for all involved.
